JOSEPH  LEE  RICE,  19, of Commercial Drive, Bridgeport, OH died Friday, June 6, 2014. 
Joseph was born in Wheeling, WV on January 2, 1995, the son of Randy Rice and Cheryl Lynn (Miller) Gooch of Bridgeport, OH.
He was a member of the Christian Church of Bethesda, OH. Joseph was a 2014 graduate of Bridgeport High School.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Robert Miller.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by  brother, Ryan L. Rice and a sister, Alyssa Lynn Rice, both of Bridgeport, OH; aunt,  Rebecca D. (Joseph) Zelek, Dillonvale, OH; cousin, Ava R. Zelek, Dillonvale, OH.  Maternal grandparents; Robert and Cindy Miller, great grandmother, Vicki Miller and great grandparents, James and Sandra McLoud.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 7 p.m. with Bro. Tim Snyder officiating.
Interment was held at the convenience of the family at Riverview  Cemetery, Martins Ferry.


 

 CLEO MARIE SAPP, 84, of So.7th Street, Martins Ferry, OH, died June 15, 2014. 
Cleo was born in Martins Ferry, OH on January 30, 1930, a daughter of the late George Q. and Mary Ann (Gump) Conner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, James and Pete: two sisters, Eileen Smith and Carolyn Lewis.
She is survived by two sons, Vincent DeNardo and  Charles (Jennifer) Sapp; two brothers, Brady (Carolyn) Conner, all of Martins Ferry and Russell (Nancy) Conner, of Wheeling, WV; numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Chelsea, Chance and Camryn. 
Memorial service was held Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the funeral home at 6 p.m. with Lisa Buckingham officiating.

MIKE Z. KOTELLOS,  86, of  N. 10th Street, Martins Ferry, OH, died  Friday, January 31, 2014. 
Mike was born in Martins Ferry on October 21, 1927, a son of the late Mike and Katina (Verenakis) Kotellos.
He was a retired advertising manager at the Times-Leader of Martins Ferry and also safety director for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Follansbee, WV plant.
Mike was a well known numismatist in the Ohio Valley; enjoyed his life, traveling to the Kentucky Derby for 25 years, visiting relatives in Greece, hitting the Las Vegas Strip, and watching his children and grandchildren grow up. His knowledge and hobby of coin collecting led him to meet many interesting people in all walks of life..
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony and John Kotellis
He is survived by his wife, Anna May "Annie" (Callarik) Kotellos; son, Mark Kotellos, Lafollette, TN; two daughters, Kathleen Hadorn, Mingo Junction, OH and Michelle (Brian) Tucker, Beaver, PA; brother, Harry (Jean) Kotellos; grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob and Jessica Kotellos; Kayla, Taylor, and Carley Kuminkoski; Alissa  Hadorn; Brielle Tucker; sister-In-law, Anastasia Kotellis.  
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Stammerjohn, officiating.
Interment followed in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.

 JAMES W. FROHNAPFEL, 76, of Colerain Pike. Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, February 2, 2014. 
Jim was born in Martins Ferry on October 1, 1937, the son of the late Walter James and Bernadine (Fox) Frohnapfel.
He was a retired employee of the former LTV Steel of Cleveland, OH. Jim was also a well known self employed contractor in the valley. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church of Colerain, OH. He served in the U.S. Army. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Jean Vargo.
In addition to his wife, Nellie E. (Carter) Frohnapfel, he is survived by four daughters, Carol (Jack) Hameister, Chicago, IL; Elizabeth (David Wyckoff) Frohnapfel, Barnsville, OH; Stephaney Farris and Brandy McCorkle-Carroll, both of Martins Ferry; two grandsons, Jackson Hameister and Scotty Farris; granddaughter, Cia'ra Farris.  
        Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church on Saturday February 8, 2014 at 1 p.m.

MANUEL  M.  VETANZE, "SOCKO", 98, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014, due to complications from pneumonia. He has been residing in San Juan Capistrano, CA with his beloved daughter Madeline and son in law, Nick since December of 2009.
Socko was born in Martins Ferry on May 30, 1915,  a son of the late Ralph W. and Lena (Riccioni) Vetanze.
He was a retired machinist for Consolidated Aluminum. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary T. (Hodor) Vetanze; one brother, Candido Vetanze.
He is survived by a son, Nelson  W. (Debbie) Vetanze, Aurora, CO.; daughter, Madeline (Nicholas) DiNapoli, San Juan Capistrano, CA. He is also survived by six grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Tom Marut as the celebrant.

HELEN L. THEIL,  88, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH died Sunday, March 2, 2014 
She was born in Maynard, OH on March 22, 1925, a daughter of the late Michael and Eva (Chernik) Bailer.
She was a retired price checker for Krogers of St. Clairsville, OH. She was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents and her husband, William R. Theil she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Mitchell, Stella Syty and Wanda Bailer; three brothers, Mike, Andy and Peter Bailer.
She is survived by  son, William M. (Judy) Theil, Columbus, OH; daughter Deborah A. (Frank) Kujawa, Dillonvale, OH; She is also survived by five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held  Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the funeral home with Rev. David Stammerjohn officiating.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.

TRAVIS C. TOMER,  64, of Woodmont, Martins Ferry, OH died Monday, April 7, 2014 at his residence. 
Travis was born in Wheeling, WV on November 28, 1949, a son of the late Willard G. and Rosalind E. (Brynaski) Tomer.
He was a retired  maintenance supervisor at United Dairy and a memeber of the American Legion, Post 38, both of  Martins Ferry. He served in the U.S. Navy. 
He is survived by his wife, Linda Jo (Longevitch) Tomer and a brother, Willard E. (Sally) Tomer, Gloucester, VA.  
Funeral services were held Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating. Interment followed in Upland Cemetery, Yorkville, OH.

MARY L. BLUTHARDT, 73, of Lakeland, FL and formerly of Martins Ferry, OH and New Castle, PA, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014.
Mary was born in Martins Ferry, OH on January 9, 1941, the daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Kimmey) Kalo.
Surviving are her husband, John Bluthardt; daughter, Pamela Sue Casella, Chester, VA; son, Kenneth D. Richmond, Richmond, VA; step-daughter, Carla Jo (John) Lambert, Bristol, IN. She is also survived by five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. 
Friends will be received at the funeral hoem Tuesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. 

JOAN J. (SORGE) MORANDO, 81, of  Martins Ferry, OH, died Saturday, April 19th, 2014. 
She was born in East Mauch Chunk, PA. on December 3, 1932, the daughter of the late Pierson A. and Freda E. (Bowes) Sorge.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Ancient Order of Hiberians both of Martins Ferry.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Morando; one daughter, Patricia Jo; sister, Gloria Edwards.
She is survived by two sons, Timothy (Charlene) Morando, Boca Raton, Fl.;  Thomas (Tess) Morando, Wheeling, WV; daughter Terrie Ann (Harry) Wright, Martins Ferry; sister, Judy (Gary) Prendergast, San Antonio, TX; brother, George Sorge, Martins Ferry; six grandchildren, Erin, Angela, Tyler,; Travis, Amy and Allison; four great-grandsons, Matthew, Anthony, Liam and Noah; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
        Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 24th,  with Rev. Tom Marut as the celebrant.
Interment  followed at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
Rosary was recited Wednesday at 3 follow by a wake service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

PATRICIA L. McGILL, 69, of N. Shady Lane, East Liverpool, OH , died Tuesday, April 29, 2014. 
She was born in East Liverpool, OH on January 18, 1945, the daughter of the late Frank and Audrey (Grenlee) Knox.
She was a retired  registered nurse.
She is survived by her husband, Leland L. McGill;  two daughters, Wendy Woods, Westminster, CO.; Lori (Jay) Roach, Martins Ferry, OH; two step-sons, John (Yun Chin) McGill; Lee (Connie) McGill; seven grandchildren, Lindsey (Kyle) Johnson; John Dedrick; Melissa (Josh) McFarland; Michael Roach; John  McGill, Jr.; Devon and Ayden  McGill; three great -grandchildren William and Carter Johnson and Mya McFarland.  
Private services were held at the convenience of the family.


LAWRENCE J. ROY, 77, of Sharon Road East, Bridgeport, OH died Friday, May 2, 2014. 
He was born in Martins Ferry, OH on March 30, 1937,   son of the late Lawrence J. and Stella R. (Biela) Roy.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired carpenter and painter for Ormet Corp. of Hannibal, OH. Lawrence was also a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church of Colerain, OH. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Michael Hajdin and two sisters, Cindy Paul and an infant sister.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce A. (Cowen) Roy; son, Douglas A. (Julie) Roy, St. Louis, MO; two daughters, Kara M. (John) Lysenko, Barberton, OH; Stephanie A. (Brian) Morris, Gambrills, MD; three sisters, Dorothy J. Roy, Wheeling, WV; Joan (Robert) Lurty, St. Clairsville, OH; Nancy (Ronald) Spielvogel, Martins Ferry, OH; four grandchildren, Adrian, Arden, Auriana and Conner.

      ANNA K. KOGUT, age 93, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 9th, 2014 at her residence.
     Anna was born in St. Clairsville, Ohio on December 27, 1920,  she was the daughter of the late Teofil and Mary(Bockenencak) Antolak.
     She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Martins Ferry, Ohio.
     In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Kogut; nine brothers, Jack, Joseph, Frank, Sylvester, Albert, Andrew, George, Stanley and Alex; and one sister, Rose Jurkowski.
     She is survived by  two sons, John A. (Mickey) Kogut, Bowie, Maryland; James A. Kogut, Martins Ferry, Ohio; two daughters, Barbara A. (Dennis) Klenowski, Brookside, Ohio; Connie J. (Michael) Crecion, Martins Ferry, Ohio. She is also survived by six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. 
     Arrangements have been entrusted to Keller Funeral Home, 615 Hanover St. Martins Ferry where friends will be received Friday, July 11, 2014 from 2-8p.m. Rosary services were held at 3:00p.m. and  wake services at 7p.m.

FRANK  L. STAUFFER,  71, of S. Third St. Martins Ferry, OH , died Saturday, July 19, 2014. 
Frank was born in Martins Ferry on September 9, 1942, the son of the late John and Janet (Thomas) Stauffer.
He was a 42 year employee at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Martins Ferry plant. Frank also was employed as a Belmont County Deputy Sheriff for 35 years. He was a member and trustee of Grace Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry. Frank was a member of the former Martins Ferry Eagles; Vigilants and Liberty F.D and the Emergency Squad; and a member of the Ohio City Lodge #486 F.A.M..
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy McKinney; and his aunt and uncle, Margaret and Roy Forni.
Frank is survived by his wife, Nancy (Kelley) Stauffer; two sons, Mike(Janet )of Bridgeport and Matt of  Martins Ferry, OH; two granddaughters; Lindy and; Kylie Stauffer; grandson, Lucas Ibsen; great granddaughter, Emma Ibsen.  
Funeral service were held Tuesday July 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.

PAMELA JO DAUGHERTY, 56, of  Kennedy Ave. ,Martins Ferry, OH, died Thursday, July 31, 2014. 
She was born in Martins Ferry on February 19, 1958, a daughter of  Larry and Josephine (Murabito) Walters of Bridgeport, OH.
She was co-owner of Don and Pam's Place, on Glenns Run Road  and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, both of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her husband, Donald L. Daugherty, Jr; son, Donnie (Kristina) Daugherty, Bridgeport, OH; brother, Mike (Sheila) Walters, Bridgeport, OH; sister, Lori (Mike) Kutys, Martins Ferry; grandson, Peyton Jo Daugherty; mother-in-law, Helena Hawkey and her canine companion, Milo.  

A Memorial Mass was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tom Marut as the celebrant.

ZITA JEAN HOSKINSON,  88, formerly of Nixon Run, Martins Ferry, OH died Friday, August 1, 2014.
She was born in Benwood, WV on December 17, 1925, a daughter of the late Mont and Anna (Higgins) Bonar.
She was a graduate of O.V.G.H., School of Nursing 1946; a retired employee of of the former Ohio Valley General Hospital of Wheeling and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry.
 In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Hoskinson; son, James and a sister, Kathryn
Mrs. Hoskinson is survived by daughter, Janet I.  (Richard) Crane, Wayne, ME; daughter-in-law, Patricia A. Hoskinson, Wheeling, WV; two grandsons, Matthew (Mary) Crane; Geoffrey (Karen) Hoskinson; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Ricardo) Marquez; Meredith Crane.

MARTHA  MAZUR,  95, of Bridgeport, OH,  passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014.
She was born in Shadyside, OH on June 24, 1919, daughter of the late Andrew and Martha (Evanczyk) Hulboy.
She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church Colerain, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Mazur;  daughter, Dianne; brother, Henry Hulboy and son in law, Neal Simpson.
She is survived by two daughters, Elaine Simpson and Jeanette Mertz, both of Colerain, OH: three grandchildren, Michael (Terri) Simpson; Andrew (Mary) Simpson; Bobbie Jo Pettit and six great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

EVELYN J. MATZ,  93, Pattons Run Rd. Martins Ferry, OH, died, Tuesday, October 7, 2014.
Evelyn was born in Martins Ferry, OH on July 29, 1921,   the daughter of the late James and Delia (Anderson) Greer.
She was a retired seamstress from the former Bobbie Brooks Inc. Bellaire, OH., where she was employed for 28 years.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by a son, Darrell Matz.
She is survived by  two sons, Brett (Jera) and Bob (Holly) Matz, both of Martins Ferry; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Private services were held at the conveniece of the family.

  JUNE J. FROHNAPFEL, 90, of Stonehouse Place, Bridgeport, OH , died  Monday, October 13, 2014. 
She was born in Martins Ferry, OH on April 6, 1924,  a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Davis) Jones.
She was a retired 20 year employee of the  former Stone and Thomas  of Wheeling, WV. 
June was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, and a member of the Catholic Women's Club,  of Colerain, OH.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray; grandson, Brad Frohnapfel; and several brothers and sister.s
She is survived by a son, Raymond (Chris) Frohnapfel, Jr., Northampton, PA; two daughters, Sandy  (Ken) Fogle, Martins Ferry, OH; Penny (Bruce) Shane, Bridgeport, OH; six grandchildren, Wendy (Larry) Hanasky; Karen (Michael) Mamone; Carrie (Shawn) Kunes; K.C. (Lashawnda) Fogle; Jason (Gina) Shane; Kellen Shane; eleven great-grandchildren Madison, Taylor and Kyle Fogle; Gianna, Luca, Sophia and Kolson Shane; Quinn and Aliyah Mamone; Sloan and Landen Hanasky.

BRADY LEROY CONNER,  76, of Clinton Streeet, Martins Ferry, OH , died Sunday, October 19, 2014. 
Brady was born in Martins Ferry, OH on January 22, 1938, a son of the late George Q. and Mary Ann (Gump) Conner.
He was a retired  brick layer and a member of Brick Layers Local #1 of Wheeling, WV.
In addition to his parents, Brady was preceded in death by a grandson, Alexander; three brothers, Don, James and Pete; three sisters, Eileen Smith, Carolyn Lewis and Cleo Sapp.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carolyn (Cominsky) Conner; son, Timonthy J. Conner, daughter, Connie  J. (Robert) Pollock, son, Frank G. Conner, all of Martins Ferry; brother, Russell A. (Nancy) Conner, Wheeling, WV; six grandchildren,

BELVA MAY WILLIAMS,  97, of Martins Ferry, OH passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014. 
She was born in Martins Ferry on July 8, 1917, a daughter of the late Charles and Ida May (Spencer) Briggs.
Belva was a member of the V.F.W., Yorkville, OH.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Harold E. Williams she was preceded in death by brother, Chuck Briggs; sister, Bernice Clark; half brother, Gomer James; three half sister, Marie Logue, Hazel Stullenburg and Mabel Smith.
She is survived by  three daughters, Judy Lee Donley, Colerain, OH; Lana (William) Graaf, Mansfield, OH; Billie D. (Phillip) Hartman, Martins Ferry, OH; six grandchildren: Thomas (Debbie) Donley; Kimberly (Edward) Hoffman; George (Erin) Donley; William Graaf, Jr.; Michelle (Mike) Davis; Phillip Hartman; twelve great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren 
        Funeral services were held at the funeral home Saturday, November 1, 2014 at noon with Rev. David Stammerjohn officiating.

 JACK E. DOWNING,  93, of Bridgeport, OH , died Monday, November 24, 2014. 
He was born in Wheeling, WV on April 1, 1921, a son of the late William and Nellie (Nash) Downing.
He was a retired employee of the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel plant of Benwood, WV.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Lydia S. Keedy he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Jack is survived by a daughter, Jackie (William) Briggs of Martins Ferry and a sister, Virginia Graff, of Syracuse, IN. He is also survived by three grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.


CAROLYN J. CONNER, 75, of Clinton Street, Martins Ferry, OH, died Sunday, December 7, 2014 at her residence. 
Carolyn was born in Glen Robbins, OH on June 14, 1939, a daughter of the late Frank and Helen M. (Wnek) Cominsky.
She was a retired knitting instructor at Eastern Gateway Community College of Steubenville, OH.
 In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Brady L. Conner on October 19th of this year; brother, John Cominsky and a grandson, Alexander Conner.
She is survived by son, Timonthy  J. Conner; daughter, Connie J. (Rob) Pollock;  son, Frank G.  Conner, all of Martins Ferry; sister, Eileen M. Armstrong, Florida; sister, Delores A. (Mike) Wills, Columbus, OH; six grandchildren, Nicole, Jamie and Jonathan Conner; Conner Pollock; George and William Hulsey; two great  grandchildren, Alexandria and Elana and numerous nieces and nephews. 
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 11 a.m.


 ROBERT   ALAN   VOYTECEK, 87, of N. 7th Street Martins Ferry, OH , died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at his residence. 
He was born in Martins Ferry, OH on September 3, 1927, a son of the late Joseph A. and Anna (Zupko) Voytecek.
He was a retired employee at the former Consolidated Aluminum, Hannibal, OH and a former Ohio State Highway Patrolman.       Robert was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1421 and a member of the American Legion Post 38, all of Martins Ferry. He also served in the U.S. Marines.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Betty J. (Cevola) Voytecek he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna M. Tratar and a brother, Joseph R. Voytecek.
He is survived by daughter, Barbara L. Rodak, Omaha, NE; three sons, Robert J. Voytecek,  Brian A. (Leanna) Voytecek, both of Denver, CO; Barry M. (Kelly) Voytecek, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; companion, Estell Popp. 
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 20,  2014,  with Rev. Tom Marut as the celebrant. 
Interment  followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
Wake service was held at the funeral home Friday at 6 p.m.

CAROL   R.  (CRAWLEY)  HOPKINS, 70, of Spence Lane, Martins Ferry, OH , died Sunday, December 21, 2014. 
She was born in Cleveland, OH on May 24, 1944, daughter of the late Howard J. and Goldie M. (Burns) Crawley.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Martins Ferry.
Carol is survived by her husband, Eugene R. Hopkins;  son, Raymond H. Hopkins, Wyoming, DE; two daughters, Kay A. (Frank) Hudson, Lincoln, DE; Marian I. (Joe) Hudson, Columbus, OH; brother, Howard Joseph Crawley, Steubenville, OH. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 7 p.m. with Rev. Larry Lewis officiating.

CLARICE V. STANLEY,  91, of Vine Street, Martins Ferry, OH, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 peacefully. 
She was born in Taylors Ridge, WV on November 8, 1923, the daughter of the late Berrell and Florence Arlena (Blake) Eller.
Clarice attended the Elliott School of Business; She was office manager at Teamsters Local Union #697 Wheeling, WV. She retired in 1983.She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Woman's Club of Martins Ferry;
Mound Chapter D.A.R., Moundsville, WV; Rev. War Ancestor Peter Yoho; Assistant Registrar 1984-1985 and Registrar 1996-2001; Marshall Co. Historical Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Stanley; son, Mark Steven Stanley and a brother, Ralph Eller
She is survived by  two sons, Robert M. Stanley, Los Gatos, CA; Lawrence J. (Jacalyn) Stanley, Buffalo Grove, IL; three granddaughters, Lauren, Bridget and Jill; sister-in-law, Roberta Warren, Columbia, TN; brother,  Charles Eller.

 JACKIE LOU COCHRAN,  80, of Mercer Road, St. Clairsville, OH , died Sunday, December 28, 2014. 
Jackie was born in Martins Ferry, OH on September 26, 1934,  she was the daughter of the late John Earl and Elsie Jo (Martin) Cochran.
She was a retired  registered nurse at the former Martins Ferry Hospital;  a 70 year member of the First Christian Church, Martins Ferry and a deconess for 15 years; a 55 year member of the Ruth Brant School of Nursing alumni and a active member of the Colerain Ruritan. .
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Elden Cochran; sister, Shirley Dutton; two aunts, Norma and Margaret Martin.
She is survived by  three nieces, Cindy (Michael) Goudy, Columbus, OH; Cheryl (Kenneth) Walton, Hagerstown, MD; Cathy (George) Keproes, St. Clairsville, OH; two nephews, John Anzak, Hannibal, OH; James (Brenda) Anzak, St. Clairsville, OH; four great nieces; five great nephews; two great-great nieces; two great-great nephews; sister-in-law, Rita Cochran, St. Clairsville, OH. 
        Funeral service were held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 1 p.m. with Henry Lewis officiating.
Interment followed at Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

DELATHION ANTONIO  CECE  BOXLEY, 43, of N. 9th Street, Martins Ferry, OH, died Monday, December 29, 2014.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 16, 1971, he was the son of the late Nathaniel and Sandra Gail Boxley who survives him of Philadelphia.
He was a former cook at Applebee's Restaurant. He was a member of the muslim faith.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Crystal (Joyce) Boxley; three children: Delathion Boxley, Jr., Jawaan Boxley and Charles White; six siblings, Larry Boxley, Jacquline Boxley, Crystal Boxley, Shamyra Boxley, Robert Smoot and Celene Morrison; host of nieces, nephews and cousins, Philadelphia, PA and NC.
Memorial servicewas held at St. John's Grade School Hall, Bellaire, OH on January 2, 2015 at 11 a.m.


ROBERT EVANS LURTY, "GUS", 76, of St. Clairsville, OH , died Saturday, January 10, 2015. 
He was born in Wheeling, WV on November 4, 1938,  he was the son of the late Robert  Evans and Rita Ignatous (Little) Lurty.
He was a retired Deputy Chief of United States Secret Service, Uniform Division;  a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church of Wheeling, WV.  He served in the U.S. Marines.
Gus is survived by his wife, Joan Theresa (Paul) Lurty;  daughter, Lisa Ann Lurty, Woodbridge, VA; sister, Mary Ellen Lurty, Bethlehem, WV.  
A memorial mass was held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 640 Old Fairmont Pike, Wheeling,  at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 16,  with Father Dennis Schuelkens as the celebrant.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Our Lady of Peace Church.


STEPHEN E. WHETSELL,  60, of Howard Street, Bridgeport, OH , died Sunday, January 11, 2015.  
He was born in Steubenville, OH on October 9, 1954, he was the son of the late Elliott G. and Virginia (Simera) Whetsell.
Steve was employed at Wheeling Island Race Track Wheeling, WV.
He is survived by daughter, Neely L. Whetsell, Martins Ferry, OH; two brothers,  Eugene Whetsell, Columbus, OH and Ronald (Lydia) Whetsell of Brilliant, OH.

TIMOTHY LEE RAY, "T-BONE", 49, of Martins Ferry, OH , died  Sunday, January 25, 2015. 
Tim was born in Martins Ferry on April 27, 1965,  he was the son of  John and Betty (Bowie) Ray of Martins Ferry.
He was a retired cook at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling , WV.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Ray.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann (Burress) Ray;  three sons, Duncan Burress, Christian Zane and Davian Ray; daughter, Devon Burress; granddaughter, Audrina Burress; four brothers, Leon, Stefon, Shaun and Fred; three sisters,  Evonne, Michelle and Dawnette; several nieces and nephews.  
Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 29, 2015  at 7 p.m. with Pastor James Agnew officiating.

MARY E. WONSIK,  70, formerly of Yorkville, OH , died Sunday, February 1, 2015. 
Mary was born in Martins Ferry, OH on December 24, 1944, the daughter of the late John and Rose Elaine (Beazel) Wonsik.
She was a Catholic by faith.
Mary is survived by two brothers, Stanley A. Wonsik, Indiana and John W. Wonsik, Spotsylvania, VA.  
Private service was held at the convenience of family.

ANGELINE R. RENAT,  91, of Carlisle Street, Martins Ferry, OH , passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at her residence. 
She was born in Martins Ferry on October 31, 1923, a daughter of the late John and Julia Marie (Morfea) Montello.
Angeline was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas M. Renat; a daughter, Aleta Toundas and three brothers.
She is survived by a son, Nicholas A. Renat, Orient, OH; daughter, Anita (Robert) Kelly, Martins Ferry and two sisters. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild.
Private services at the convenience of family. 
Interment followed at Upland Cemetery, Yorkville, OH.  


 DAVID ALLAN WRIGHT,  69, of  Wheeling, WV , died Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
He was born in New Martinsville, WV on December 22, 1945,  a son of the late Harley Fay and Mary Elizabeth (Lemasters) Wright.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Douglas Wright
He is survived by  sister, Jennifer Sue (Joseph) Voytecek, Martins Ferry, OH and several nieces and nephews.

RONALD LEE GILDOW, 78, of  Bridgeport, OH , passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015.
Ron was born in Martins Ferry, OH on April 5, 1937,  a son of the late  Mildred C. (Starkey) Gildow.
He was a retired electrician at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Martins Ferry Plant for 42 years; Past President of the United Steelworkers of America Local Union #1238 for 16 years and an active SOAR (Steelworker Organization  of Active Retirees). He was also a past member of the Martins Ferry Fire Dept. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bridgeport, OH. He also served in the U. S. Army. 
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Gildow.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra Kay (Paxson) Gildow; son, Gregory Gildow, Yorkville, OH; two daughters,  Christy Kay (Duane) Violet, Dover, OH and Jodi L. (Aaron) Apitzsch, St. Clairsville, OH; sister, Carolyn (Barry) Peterson, Wheeling, WV; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Holly, Nick, Jennifer, Lauren, Lindsey and Blake; numerous nieces and nephews; special loving cat, Percy.

SHERMAN LEWIS FOX, 80, of So. 3rd Street, Martins Ferry, OH , died Saturday, April 25, 2015.
He was born in Washngton, PA on March 4, 1935, a son of the late Sherman and Mildred Fox.
He served in the U.S. Army. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
He is survived by two sons, Sherman Ackley, Washington, PA and  Robert Fox, Martins Ferry; step-son, Sherman McKenzie, Bethesda, OH. He is also survived by three grandchildren.

 JOSEPH  JOHN  RICO,  91, of  Martins Ferry, OH , died Sunday, April 26, 2015. 
He was born in Beech Bottom, WV on September 1, 1923, a son of the late John and Helen (Yuhadz) Rico.
He was a retired employee of the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Yorkville Plant. He served in the U.S. Marines in WW II and was a member of the VFW of Yorkville, OH
        In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Frank, Steve and John; sister, Ann Burda.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret L. (Kyser) Rico; two step- daughters, Penny K. (Ronnie) Shane, Colerain, OH; Debra L. (Jim Wharton) Bowers, Tiltonsville, OH; four grandchildren, Jamie (Colleen) Bowers, Stacy (Jack) Totterdale, Casey (Eric) Griffin and Jimmy Wharton; ten great-grandchildren: Owen, Anderson and Wyatt Bowers; Logan, J.T. and Harley Totterdale; Matthew, Mason, Max and Mia Griffin.  
Services were private at the convenience of family. 
Interment was held at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. 
Military honors were given at the cemetery by the Belmont Co. Honor Guard.


GEORGE ARMAND JANNOTTE,  78, of Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry, OH , died Saturday, April 25, 2015.  
George was born in Swanton, VT on February 8, 1937, a son of the late George Armand and Margaret Elizabeth (Ellis) Jannotte.
He was a retired C.N.A.  and a truck driver for many years. He served in the U.S. Marines.  He was a honorary member of the local Grim Reapers Motorcycle Club, an avid fisherman and a patron of Don and Pam's establishment.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith C. (Sigal) Jannotte.
He is survived by  six sons, Steven (Barb) Jannotte; George (Pauline) Jannotte; Gary (Kathleen) Jannotte; Paul (Sandy) Jannotte; Michael Sealy; David (Lisa) Renner; daughter, Catherine (Dan) Liedl; numerous brothers and sisters. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

MARY  MONICA  OBERDICK, 80, of Heils Lane, Sunset Heights, Bridgeport, OH died Monday, May 11, 2015 at her residence.
Mary was born in Wheeling, WV on August 9, 1934, the daughter of the late George Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Shutler) Weiskircher.
She was a retired telephone operator for A.T.&T. She was a Catholic by faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Oberdick and one brother, John Weiskircher.
She is survived by a brother, George H. (Sally) Weiskircher, Meridan, ID; numerous nieces and nephews.

ELEANOR JANE YODER, 85, of Bridgeport, OH , died  Wednesday, May 20, 2015. 
She was born in Martins Ferry, OH on March 2, 1930, a daughter of the late John Thomas and Frances Ann (Striff) Lewis.
She was a member of Colerain Presbyterian Church, Colerain, OH. and a member of the Eastern 
Star.
In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, John Yoder; two sisters, 
Ruth Lewis and Dorothy Ellis and a brother, John Lewis
Eleanor is survived by  two sons, John S. (Karen) Yoder, Martins Ferry and Todd C. (Rhonda) Yoder, Bridgeport; three daughters, Leanne Smith, Cleveland,  Gail (Odell) Jackson, Pataskala,  Jill E. (Dwayne) Rader, Granville; ten grandchildren, John (Brittany), Karley (Zack), Frances, Jamie, Austin, Chas, Taylor, Logan, Cassidy and Rex; great-grandson, Johnny.

CHARLOTTE EVELYN BRIGGS, 92, formerly of Virginia Street, Martins Ferry, OH died Saturday, May 23, 2015. 
She was born in Tiltonsville, OH on September 17, 1922, the daughter of the late Edward and Kathryn (Kiss) Briggs.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Jr., Fred and Ted Briggs; sister, Wilma I. Mears.
She is survived by a sister, Betty  (Leslie) Douglas of Martins Ferry; several nieces and nephews.  
Private services were held and interment in Riverview Cemetery.

MARGARET MARY BROSE, 87, formerly of Garden Park Terrace, Wheeling, WV, died Friday, May 29, 2015. 
She was born in New York, N.Y. on January 27, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna M. (McGuiness) Spence.
In addition to her parents and her husband, James F. Brose, she was preceded in death by a brother, George; two sisters, Georgianna Kuhn and Caroline Esgro. Ellen Telesino, Barbara Evans and Kathy Rosenthal.
She is survived by a daughter, Maureen G. (Frank) Larkin, Martins Ferry, OH; son, James F. (Carolyn) Brose, Wheeling, WV; brother, Robert Spence, New York; five sisters, Genevieve  Meyer; Jean Kelly, Ellen Telesino, Barbara Evans and Kathy Rosenthal. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at the funeral home Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Tom Marut officiating. Interment will be held in New York.


JENNIFER SUE VOYTECEK, 56, of Ellett Street, Martins Ferry, OH passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015. 
She was born in New Martinsville, WV on November 24, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Harley Fay and Mary Elizabeth (Lemasters) Wright.
She was a retired manager at Advance Auto Parts of Bellaire, OH and a former employee of A.T. & T. of St. Clairsville, OH.  She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry.
 In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and David Wright
In addition to her husband, Joseph R. Voytecek she is survived by two sons, Jeremy P. (Melissa) Voytecek and Anthony J. Voytecek, both of Martins Ferry; two grandsons, Joseph and Nicholas; two granddaughters, Kara and Kayla and a great-granddaughter.

JOHN  TASSO,  86, of Huber Heights, OH passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015. 
John was born in Dayton, OH on May 25, 1929, he was the son of the late Guf and Eukhem (John) Tasso.
He was a retired auditor. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest and a sister, Pauline Tasso.
In addition to his wife, Jacqueline (Keller) Tasso, he is survived by a nephew, Gus Tasso of Maui, HI and a niece, Arleen Marcum, Las Vegas.

PHYLLIS  JEANETTE (KUNZE)  TATE, age 83, died peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2015. 
Born July 28, 1931 in Martins Ferry, Ohio; she was preceded in death by her  parents Lawrence and Mary (Wagener) Kunze.          Phyllis married Jesse K. Tate on Sept. 20, 1958.  He preceded her in death in 1996.  She is survived by daughter Julie and  her husband Lee Gotschalk of Sparta, VA and son Alan and his wife Shelly Tate of Bryan, OH.    She is survived by five grandchildren, Emily, Zachary, and Samuel Gotschalk of Virginia;  Nicholas and Matthew Tate of Ohio.  She is also survived by a brother Ronald (Jane) Kunze of Martins Ferry, Ohio and a sister, Suzanne (Henry) Phemester of Martins Ferry, Ohio.  
      She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Wilfred, Donald and John Kunze.
      Phyllis was a graduate of Martins Ferry High School and Ohio University.  She was a member of Riverview Bible Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 30 years.  She had also been a member of the Colerain Homemakers Club.  She loved gardening, reading and spending time with family and friends.
     Funeral service was held at the funeral home on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11 am.

Josh was born in Wheeling, WV on March 16, 1984,  he was the son of  Harry J. and Sandra Sue (Berletch) Caprita from Piedmont, OH.
He was an employee of Wheeling News.

"VI"  SCHWENDER  McGEE, 68, of Martins Ferry, OH , passed away at home on Sunday, June 21, 2015. 
She leaves behind her loving husband, James H. McGee; three children: Daina (Alan) Wasserstron, James McGee, Jr. and Lisa (Harry) Richards; four grandchildren: Maggie, Michael, Dominic and Jacob.

MARVIN ANDREW ('SONNY') ELIZEUS, 76, of  Sharon Road East, Bridgeport, OH , passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 at his residence. 
Sonny was born in Cadiz, OH on June 19, 1939, the son of the late Martin and Dorothy (Taylor) Elizeus.
He was a retired foreman at Carvat Coal Cadiz, OH.
In addition to his wife, Judith A. (Doughty) Elizeus, he is survived by son, Adam (Rebecca) Elizeus, St. Clairsville, OH; daughter, Tina (Steve) Greer, Colerain, OH; two sisters,  Shirley (Dean) McKibben; Marianne Millward; four grandchildren, Stephanie and Eric Greer; April and Paige Elizeus; beloved  dog, Red.  
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Monday, July 27, 2015 at 12 noon, with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr officiating.
Interment  followed at Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

MICHAEL ANTHONY SALIMBENE, 'MIKE',  52, of St. Clairsville and formerly of Martins Ferry, OH  died Saturday, September 5, 2015. 
Mike was born in Martins Ferry, OH on November 11, 1962,  he was the son of the late Anthony and Anna Mary (Shipley) Salimbene.
He is survived by  two sisters, Melodie Conaway and Marianne (Nicholas) Stan,  both of Martins Ferry, OH; nephew, Nicholas; nieces, Kristy, Briana, Toni,; Mandy and Megan; step-son, Justin.  
At the family's request there will be no visitation.



DOROTHY MAY EILER,  87, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH died Monday, September 7, 2015. 
Dorothy was born in Martins Ferry on December 29, 1927,  the daughter of the late Arnold Lee and Geneva M. (Henry) Shrodes.
She was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Eiler; brother, Lloyd Shrodes and one grandson, Adam Eiler.
She is survived by  three sons, Lewis L. (Diana) Eiler, Brilliant, OH; Bruce W. Eiler, Bridgeport, OH; Glenn N. (Patty) Eiler, Shadyside, OH; daughter, Renee (Robert) Burns, Carrollton, OH; brother, Bruce (Barbara) Shrodes, Martins Ferry, OH. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 1 p.m. with Rev. William O. Webster officiating.


Mick Janiszewski passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015, at his home in Wheeling, WV.
In 1949, Mick was born to Stanley Janiszewski and Theresa (Jackowski) Janiszewski. Growing up in Martins Ferry, OH, Mick quickly recognized his devout affirmation for the Catholic Church. As a young man, Mick was a big brother to Robert Janiszewski, an altar boy, a Knights of Columbus 4th degree member, and avid home run hitter at the Elm School playground. 
After graduating for Wheeling Central, Mick went on to study at Bowling Green and Kent State. He moved back to Martins Ferry and worked with his family at the Pick N Pack Deli.
Shortly thereafter Mick realized his dream by becoming a police officer for the city of Martins Ferry. During his service he received the key to the city, found a lifelong friend and patrol partner (Bill Ellis) and recognized his passion for firearms. 
In 1978, Mick met Cecelia (Petros) Janiszewski his lifelong partner and friend. They were married for 36 years and on their honeymoon, Cecelia quickly found out about his love for the Browns and Pirates. Mick and Cecelia had two sons Patrick and Stephen. Growing up Patrick and Stephen remember their dad most because of his selfless heart, his great little league coaching ability, and his love for English Springer Spaniels. 
Mick was an attempted carpenter, Yorkville Bakery fan, GTO nut, and an avid supporter of zero-turn lawn mowers. 
Upon retirement, Mick and his family moved to the country and he went back to work as a teacher at the Belmont Career Center and later on; served as a Mental Health Technician at OVMC. 
Mick was a very proud father, his oldest son was a war hero and his youngest son was a football star. His wife was an accomplished nurse and the love of his life.
He is survived in life by his wife and sons. He had several nieces and nephews, but Mary and Angela Petros were like daughters to him.

GLENN EDWARD GREEN,  83, of  Martins Ferry, OH , passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 at his residence. 
He was born in Belmont, OH on August 19, 1932, a son of the late Labon Dale and Hazel L. (Brock) Green.
He was a retired Sales Manager at Contractors Supply, Wheeling, WV for 35 years. Glenn was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bethesda, OH; Masonic Lodge, Bridgeport, OH, Past Member of Osiris Shrine and Past Member of the Jesters of Wheeling. He was an avid sports fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. He served in the U.S. Army. 
 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Gene A. and Wayne Green.
In addition to his wife, Marlene June (Spencer) Green, he is survived by two sons, Glenn P. (Amy) Green, Kansas City, MO and Sean D. (Roberta) Green, Elizabethtown, PA; daughter, Joni R. (Richard) Ortiz, Frenchburg, KY. He is also survived by two grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Services were held at the convenience of family. 


 JERRY CRAIG,  75, of Reflection Drive, Martins Ferry, OH, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at his residence. 
Jerry was born in Martins Ferry on July 22, 1940, son of the late Henry and Mary (Sonk) Craig.
He was a retired  employee of Conoco Phillips Co., Moundsville, WV;  a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Colerain, OH;  he served in the U.S. Army.
Jerry was an avid muskie fisherman and hunter.
In addition to his wife, Carol L. (Porter) Craig, he is survived by a son, Jerry Lee Craig, Charlotte, NC; brother, Gary (Goldie) Craig, Martins Ferry; grandson, Miller Craig, Charlotte, NC.  
Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Colerain, OH. with Concelebrants, Father Tim McGuire and Father Dale Tornes.
Vigil service was held Friday at 7:40. 
Mausoleum entombment was at the convenience of the family at Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove, OH.

WILLIS LEIBERT SCARFPIN, 77, of N. 7th Street, Martins Ferry, OH, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at his residence.
He was born in Martins Ferry, OH on May 16, 1938, son of the late Earl E. and Maude (Jeffers) Scarfpin.
He was a retired employee at the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Martins Ferry Plant. He was a member of the American Legion Post 38. Willis served in the U. S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (Blust) Scarfpin; three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by  two sons, Willis L. (Valerie) Scarfpin, Jr., Yellow Springs, OH and David A (Kelly) Scarfpin, Cornelius, NC; three grandsons, Jared, Travis and Riley; granddaughter, Remini; two brothers,  Robert L. Scarfpin, Martins Ferry, OH; Frank (Pam) Scarfpin, Minford, OH; three sisters, Eleanor Sindeldecker, Martins Ferry,  Sharon (Robert) Ashworth, Sugarland, TX and Sarah (Tim) Harman, Tampa, FL. 
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at 11 a.m., with Justin Hill officiating.
Interment  followed at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH. 


DORIS  JEAN  AULT, 86, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in Ocean Springs, MS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Captain William H. Ault; parents, Bertis and Monti Cockrell; and brother, Joe Cockrell.
She is survived by her three sons, David (Lynette) Ault of Madison, AL; Lt. Col. Jeffrey (Jamie) Ault, of Alamogordo, NM; and John (Jody) Ault of Biloxi; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service was held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.


KERMA JEAN SCHIFFMAN, 83, of Martins Ferry, OH , passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2015, after lengthy health struggles.
She was born in Wheeling, WV on January 10, 1932, a daughter of the late Jesse William and Elnora (Groppe) Baggott.
She was a retired  employee at the former L. S. Good & Co. of Wheeling, WV. She was also an Avon representative. She was a member of First Christian Church of Martins Ferry, OH, 3rd grade Sunday School Teacher for 42 years; Deaconess for 30 years and the Ladies Circle.
Kerma will be remembered as a strong fighter with great determination and upbeat attitude. She never forgot a birthday or to mail someone a card. She loved running around in her car and her husband often stated that she had a gasoline rear end. More recently she enjoyed watching Joel Osteen, Jeopardy and Judge Judy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,  David Marvin Schiffman, Sr.; infant son, Dennis Lee Schiffman; three brothers, William, Thomas and Charles Baggott; two sisters, Ida Stone and Sylvia Gibbons.
She is survived by  son, David M. Schiffman, Jr., Bloomington, IL; four daughters, Diane L. (George) Wiman, Normal, IL; Denise E. (Don) Powell, St. Clairsville, OH; Darla J. Lovett, Benson, AZ; Danna M. (Joseph) Palmer, Martins Ferry, OH; six grandsons, Joe Wiman; Lucas (Emily) Wiman; Christopher Wiman; Dan (Allison) Powell; Austen Schiffman; Alex Schiffman; great-grandson, whom she took extreme pride, Beau William Powell; two sisters, Sara Kettman; Lola Standifer; sister-in-law, Ruth Baggott. 
        Funeral services were held at the funeral home November 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brad Johnston officiating.
Interment  followed at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.

 BRENT CLYD BROWN "BOOG", 64, of Pattons Run Road, Martins Ferry, OH, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015.
Brent was born in Martins Ferry on June 26, 1951,  a son of the late Clyde Leo and Margaret Helena (Ensinger) Brown.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator.
He was a member of the Eagles of Barnsville, OH; Polish Club, Martins Ferry, Honorary Member of the Martins Ferry Fire Dept., Liberty Station and the Emergency Squad..
 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Brown.
He is survived by a son, Joseph Brown, Martins Ferry; daughter, Suzanne M. (James) Currie, Bloomingdale, OH; companion, Carolyn J. Deaton; six grandchildren, Justin, Branda, Tristen, Brent, Preston and Isaiah. 
        Funeral services were held at the funeral home Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Larry Lewis officiating
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
