ALFRED K. SWEARINGEN, "BUNNY" 84, of Martins Ferry, OH , passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 28th, 2017 at his residence.
He was born in Martins Ferry, OH on June 7, 1932, a son of the late Alfred Kenneth "Greek" and Mary Ellen (Hoffman) Swearingen.
He was a retired employee at Ohio Power Brilliant, OH. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry.
Bunny's greatest joy was spending time with his family especially on holidays and Sunday watching football. His grandchildren were the light of his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. (Beltz) Swearingen, whom he married June 20, 1953; sister, Dorothy Dugan; brother, Edgar Swearingen and nephew, Edgar Swearingen, Jr.
He is survived by daughter, Kathy A. (Dr. Richard) Look, Redding, CA; son, Mark A. Swearingen, Martins Ferry, OH; son, A. David (Peggy) Swearingen, Wheeling, WV; daughter, Terri A. (Michael) Murray, Wheeling, WV; grandson, David Look; granddaughter, Kris (Mike) Cummins; granddaughter, Lauren (Matt) Herbster; granddaughter, Amanda (fiance, Eric Maxim) Murray; grandson, Adam Murray; three great-granddaughters, Ashlie and Emilie Cummins; Claire Herbster; numerous nieces and nephews; three, sisters-in-law, Pat Swearingen; Karen Beltz; Mary Kay Emmerth; life long friends, Donnie and Millie Reese.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 with celebrant, Rev. Tom Marut officiating.
Interment followed at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
Wake service was held at the funeral home Friday at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's School or Church, 20 N. 4th Street, Martins Ferry, OH 43935.
