CHARLES EDWARD HODOR, SR, 85, of South Zane Highway, Martins Ferry, OH , died Friday, November 4, 2016.
Chuck was born in Martins Ferry, OH on January 29, 1931, a son of the late John and Mary (Pastor) Hodor.
He was a retired employee of the former Consol Coal. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; Honorary Member of Martins Ferry Fire Dept. Liberty Engine Co. for 60 years; Italian-American Club and the Polish National Alliance Club all of Martins Ferry. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brent Hodor; three sisters, Mary Vetanze, Frances Groza and Nancy Smith; two brothers, Bill and Paul Hodor.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Janice (Howard) Hodor; son, Charles E. Hodor, Jr., Martins Ferry; two sisters, Dorothy DeFede, Martins Ferry and Isabel Berardi, Coraopolis, PA; grandson, Chase J. Hodor and granddaughter, Liberty J. Hodor, both of Martins Ferry; three great-granddaughters Laikyn, London and Lailah.
Friends were received at the funeral home Sunday 12-3 and 5-8 p.m. The Martins Ferry Fire Dept.held services at 7 p.m. followed by a Wake service at 7:30.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 with Rev. Tom Marut as the celebrant.
Interment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
The Belmont Co. Veterans Association gave military honors at the funeral home Monday at 10 a.m.
