Emma Jean Davis, 88 passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025. She was born on October 8, 1936 in Martins Ferry, OH to Clyde and Wanda Scott. She married her high school sweetheart, Edward (Bud) Davis on February 6, 1955 and spent her life as a homemaker, creating a haven of love and comfort for her family. She had 67 wonderful years with her beloved husband, many spent traveling all over the United States after his retirement. She was an avid reader and loved doing Word Searches and puzzles. She enjoyed shopping and would say “I am just gonna look, don’t let me buy anything” and then afterwards would say “Why did you let me buy all this?” Her family enjoyed her zucchini bread, chicken noodle soup and homemade applesauce. Emma’s gentle spirit and unwavering kindness touched everyone she knew, leaving a legacy of love that will live on. Emma got to fulfill her and Bud’s bucket list wish to go to Alaska by going on an Alaskan Cruise with her children Becky, Beth (Rich) and Bill (Chris).
She is survived by her four children: Becky Dutcher, Kim (Dale) Richter, Bill (Chris) Davis and Beth (Rich) Powell; six grandchildren: Heather (Paul) Selby, Michael Richter, Brianne (PJ) Eddy, Brittany (Rodney) Nash, Jessica (Tyler) Creasap and Monica Powell; 10 great-grandchildren: Keegan and Hannah Hupp, Jace Selby, Adele Stillion, Claire Eddy, Maddix and Mylie Richter, Aiden, Emma and Rodney Rex IV (Nash) Nash; and one great-great granddaughter: Harlow Littell.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to celebrate her beautiful life. Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew and loved her. Special thanks to the staff at Valley Hospice at Trinity Hospital West for their wonderful care. Bud and Emma Jean are together forever again.
