ETHEL ROSE LAIPPLE, 80, of Richmond,VA formerly of Martins Ferry, OH passed away July 9th, 2024 at her daughters home in Mt. Pleasant, OH.
Rose was born in Warfield, VA on January 30, 1944, to the late Mattie Jennie (Glenn) Clayton and Nathan Glenn. She is preceded in death by her youngest son Tommy Laipple in 1991, the father to her children, Don "Dutch" Laipple in 2017, her sister Janie Glenn Dean, and her brothers Larry Glenn and Little Jack Clayton.
While living in Martins Ferry, Rose owned a seamstress business, Seams Like Old Times, located on 4th Street. Upon returning to Virginia, she worked on home improvements and completely renovated her 1890 historical home in the Fan District of Richmond.
She enjoyed being a grandmother more than anything to her six grandchildren who lovingly called her Grammy Rose. Her grandchildren include Tommy and Mattie Rose Davis, Will and Jake Laipple and Colton and Mason Redinger.
She is survived by her children Parker, P.J. (Becky) Laipple of Mechanicsville, VA, Ann (Jeff) Davis of Beaufort, SC and Jennifer (Justin) Redinger of Mt. Pleasant, OH and brother Frederick Clayton.
A private burial will be held at Holly Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to her son Tommy.
All friends and family are welcome to attend a tribute to Rose to be held at Oglebay Park, Wilson Lodge, Allegheny Room, Wheeling WV on Saturday, July 20 from 1pm-3pm.
For her Virginia family and friends, a tribute will be held at Rose's mother, sister and nieces restaurant, County Seat Restaurant & Gathering Place, Powhatan, VA on Sunday, August 4 from
11 am - 2 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rose's honor to Stonerise Hospice, 187 W. Main Street, Suite 200 Clairsville, OH 43950.
