George Elliott Helt, 86 of Mt. Pleasant, OH and West Liberty, WV, passed away on January 20, 2026 in Wheeling, WV
He was born January 15, 1940 in Flushing, OH to the late George Franklin and Ida(Elliott) Helt.
George was a 1958 graduate of Martins Ferry High School.
He was a retired truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He retired from Mashuda Contractors, Inc. George was active and a founding member of the Ohio Valley Street Survivors car club.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Judith Gray Helt, he was preceded in death by a infant daughter, Shirley Ann Helt, his young brother, Jere Helt, his sister and brother-in-law, Bonita and Keith Cope, his brother-in-law, John Kovacs, and his former wife and mother of his children, Gladys Murray Helt.
He is survived by a son, George A. (Stacy) Helt, Sugar Grove, OH; daughter, Teresa L. Walker, Lenoir City TN; daughter, Barbie J. Ray, Bridgeport, OH; daughter, Gerri B. Thompson, Olympia, KY; sister, Toni (Roger Bertelli) Kovacs, Flushing, OH; numerous nieces and nephews; fiancee', Pearl Lough, and the Lough family. West Liberty, WV. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Keller Funeral Home, 615 Hanover Street, Martins Ferry, OH where friends will be received Saturday January 24, 2026 from 11 am until time of service at 1 pm, with Pastor Chap Holbert, officiating. Interment will be held at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove the following week.
