SAMUEL LEE PONTI, 78, of Yorkville, OH, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019.
Samuel was born in Wheeling, WV on April 8, 1941, a son of the late Peter and Rose (Cardani) Ponti.
He was a self employed upholster.
He served in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Ponti.
Sam is survived by a son, Samuel J. Ponti, Brilliant, OH; brother, Robert (Caryl) Ponti. Sumter, SC; two best fly fishing buddies, Arun Musinipally and Larry Stullenburg.
He was a perfectionist and every fly he tied was just perfect and Arun remembers him catching over 200 fish on a single clouser minnow fly he tied. His best fishing hole was at Pike Island Dam in Ohio where he caught 1000s of fish and kept a journal of every fish he caught, the size/weight of the fish , the weather, water temperature and depth of Ohio River last 30 years. He was the most gentle, honest, trustful, respectful, independent, perfectionist and regimented soul you would ever meet. Pike Island will never be the same without you. Tight lines and happy fishing in the heavens. We will miss you.
