STANLEY GDULA Obituary

Stanley "Stush" Gdula of Martins Ferry, Ohio, peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord in the early morning of Monday, July 29, 2024 at the age of 93.  He was born December 28, 1930 to Ignatz Gdula and Violet (Jendrusik) Gdula of Midway, Ohio.  He graduated from St. Clairsville High School and served proudly as a United States Marine before going to work as a big machine mechanic at Consol in Cadiz until he retired.
A dedicated servant, Stush spent years volunteering his time and efforts to the Knights of Columbus at fish fries and Easter flower sales; he was a proud member of the American Legion, the Polish Club and the Italian Club.  He served as an usher for years at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Martins Ferry, delivered flowers and grave blankets to the cemeteries and was a proud and steadfast life-long resident of Bulltown up on Mackey Avenue.
Stush was generous with his time, friendship and love.  He never spoke an unkind word, would always stop to say hello, and never missed a chance to Polka.  He was a dedicated family man, always at his children's, grandchildren's and even great-grandchildren's events, supporting them.
He is proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Della (Riccelli) Gdula, married June 18, 1955 and for 60 years until her passing in 2016; his parents, Ignatz and Violet Gdula; and his brothers Frank Paul, Frank Carl, Joseph, Edward, and John Gdula.
Surviving Stush are his children, Kimberly (Tom) Suriano, and David (Natalie) Gdula; his grandchildren, Susan (Dave) Selan, Stephanie (Mark) Foster, Parker (Fiancé, Brittany) Gdula, and Gannon Gdula; his great-grandsons, Henry, George, and Walt Foster and Wyatt Selan; his sisters Dorothy Jagaczewski and Patricia Busack.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Keller's Funeral Home, 615 Hanover St, Martins Ferry, OH 43935, followed immediately by  Funeral liturgy with Mass celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Martins Ferry with Father Marut.  Church luncheon to follow.   Internment in Riverview Cemetery will occur at a time convenient for the family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Martins Ferry or to Martins Ferry Knights of Columbus in honor of Stanley Gdula.
