Shirley Probst Obituary

Shirley Mae Milbert Probst, 84, of Martins Ferry, passed away Monday, July 29th, 2019.
Shirley was born April 15th, 1935, the youngest child of the late Louis (Red) and Della Mae Barcus Milbert.
Shirley was graduated in 1954 from Martins Ferry High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She married her high school sweetheart, Charlie Probst, on June 25th, 1955. They were married 63 years until Charlie's death on June 25th, 2018. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. When her children were grown, Shirley started a consignment craft shop, The Old Homestead. She later became the proprietor of the Mulberry Inn Bed and Breakfast in the big Victorian home in which she and Charlie lived. Shirley loved interacting with her B&B guests and developed many lasting friendships. She was an active entrepreneur in the Martins Ferry Chamber of Commerce. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Charlie, and brothers, Bob and George Milbert.
Shirley is survived by her children, Linda (Gerald) Pockl, Chuck (Karen) Probst, Cindy (Tom Henceroth) Probst and Tom (Mary Jo) Probst. All live in or near Martins Ferry. Seven grandchildren, Kyle and Kelsey (Tray Martin) Pockl, Ashley (Jordan) Howard, Jessie Probst, Alyssa Cotsamire and Jake and Connor Probst; five great- grandchildren. In-laws, Georgia Milbert and Jim and Josie Probst.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kellers Funeral Home, 615 Hanover Street, Martins Ferry where friends will be received on Thursday, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday August 2nd 2019 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 3rd and Locust Sts., Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.
