WILLIAM DEXTER LONGENETTE, "WINK", 75, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at his residence in Columbus, OH.
He was born in Martins Ferry on June 22, 1943, a son of the late John Dexter and Rose Alice (Klaker) Longenette.
He was a retired employee of the former Longenette Construction and Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Mingo Plant.
Wink was on the Martins Ferry Purple Riders football team and played in two undefeated seasons 60 and 61. He was one of the famous "5 Tons Of Fun", which included Ted Torok, Frank Stauffer, Joe Minder, and Tiny Ward + 1 was Charles Coss, QB.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Robert, Howard and Paul; two sisters, Clara Horner and Lulu Rippentrop.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Lou (Weekly) Longenette; son, William (Lori) Longenette, II, Columbus, OH; daughter, Susan Longenette, Martins Ferry; granddaughter, Taylor E. Longenette, Columbus, OH; grandson, Anthony J. Longenette, Galloway, OH; sister, Freda Olszeski.
Services are private at the convenience of family.
