BROCK OLAN GRIFFITH, 85, of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018.

He was born in Moundsville, WV on September 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Ferris and Catherine (Shafer) Griffith.

He was a retired employee of the former Blue Ribbon Paint Co. of Wheeling, WV. He was a member of Thy Will Be Done Outreach Ministry of Martins Ferry. Brock served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, Wilda Viola (Hill), he is survived by two daughters,  Janet Sue Griffith, Longneck, DE; Denise Colette (Phillip) Capalingo, Bridgeport, OH; three sons, Jay Douglas (Wendy) Griffith, Bellaire, OH; Robert Olan (Kiria) Griffith, Martins Ferry, OH; Gary Lee (Jennifer) Griffith, Cadiz, OH; two sisters, Betty Meyer, New Martinsville, WV and Del Rea Bella of Bellaire, OH. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Services are private at the convenience of the family.

WILLIAM OSCEOLA WEBSTER, SR., 92, of St. Clairsville, OH, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018.

He was born in Elizabeth, NJ, on June 21, 1925, the son of the late Frank Osceola and Martha (Davis) Webster.

He was a retired land surveyor for Bridgewater Twp. NJ. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church Martins Ferry, OH.  He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

In addition to his wife, Margaret Mary (Mangione) Webster he is survived by two sons, Rev. William O.  (Linda) Webster, Jr., Martins Ferry, OH; Mark A. (Sue Ann) Webster, Garner, NC; two sisters, Martha W. Mulder, Pennington, NJ; Mary Lou W. (Charles) Johnson, Nokomis, FL; two granddaughters, Sarah (Jeffrey) Quinn, Espyville, PA; Rachel (Mads) Klausen, Copenhagen, Denmark; three grandsons, Matthew (MaryJoanna) Webster, New York City, NY; Dylan Webster, Garner, NC; Taylor Webster, Garner, NC; two great-grandchildren, Margrette Jean Klausen; William Klausen.

 Visitation will be held at the Grace Presbyterian Church, 7 N. 4th Street, Martins Ferry on Monday, February 26, 2018, from 11 until time of service at 2 p.m. with his son, Rev. William O. Webster,, Jr. officiating.

Interment will be held at the National Cemetery of The Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, 7 N. 4th Street, Martins Ferry, OH  43935.

Belmont Co. Veterans Association will give Military Honors at the church at 11 a.m.

R. A. Raimonde, M.D. “Rome”, 94 of Martins Ferry, Ohio passed peacefully on March 20, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

 He was born May 5, 1923 in Yorkville, OH as son of Raffael and Anna Pulice Raimonde. 

 Preceding him in death were: infant daughter Renee, two sisters, Adelyn Raimonde of Yorkville, OH and Delores Raimonde, RN of Phoenix, AZ; and three brothers, Dr. Anthony Raimonde of Mesa, AZ, Orlando Raimonde of Tiltonsville, OH, and Albert Raimonde of Westerville,OH.  

 He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Donna (Morgan) Raimonde, his sister Lonnie (Joe, deceased) Dolan of Indian Land, SC, Rudolph (Wanda) Raimonde of Phoenix, AZ, and Dr. James (Yolanda) Raimonde, DVM of Defiance, OH. Also surviving are: two daughters, Rebecca (Doug) Shipe of Littleton CO and Beth (David) Weaver of Wheeling, WV; two sons: Rodney (Dawn) Raimonde of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Michael (Mary) Raimonde of Kenosha, WI; two stepdaughters; Leigh Prop of Cincinnati, OH; and Suzanne (Philip) Trouten of Martins Ferry, OH; stepson Scott Gibbons of Martins Ferry, OH.  He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Reese Raimonde, Thomas Raimonde, Benjamin Raimonde, Parker Raimonde, David Weaver Jr., Eleanor Weaver, Lauren (Richie) Gryspeerdt, Jamie Prop, Ryan (Rachel) Marling, Elizabeth Gibbons, and Whitney Gibbons.  

Dr. Raimonde was a graduate and Valedictorian of Yorkville High School class of 1941. He was a graduate of the College of Medicine of the Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, class of 1951. 

He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II from 1943-1945, Hq Co. 884th Bomb Sq. (VH) 383rd Bomb group (VH), B-29 unit. 

After graduating from medical school, he interned at the City Hospital of Akron, OH.  He served as a physician in Martins Ferry from 1956 to retirement in 1996. He was a general practitioner, delivering over 5,000 babies and was beloved by his many patients. 

He was a past President of the Medical Staff of Martins Ferry Hospital, a member and past President of Belmont County Medical Society and a 50-year member of the Ohio State Medical Association and the American Medical Association.  

He was a member of American Legion Post 38 in Martins Ferry, OH and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4811 in Yorkville, OH. 

He also served on the Board of Directors of the Health Plan of the Upper Ohio Valley.  He was the plant physician for Wheeling Steel Corporation for 26 years.  

In 2014, he was inducted into the Martins Ferry Hall of Honor. 

Family and friends will be received Sunday, from 12-4pm and 6-8pm at Keller Funeral Home, 615 Hanover St. Martins Ferry, OH 43935. Wake service will be held at 7:30. 

Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, OH at 11:00am on Monday, March 26, 2018 with Rev. Tom Marut as celebrant.  
Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH where Belmont County Veterans Association will give Military Honors.

  Charles Eugene Wilson, 95, of Colerain, OH, went to his eternal rest on March 31, 2018 at Liza's Place, to be united with his wife, Leona.

Charles was born on September 3, 1922, the son of the late Mary Abagail Hocking Wilson and Francis Eugene Wilson.

He was a devoted husband and wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved riding his motorcycle and cutting grass on his tractor with his beloved dog, Onyx. He was a life-long hard worker retiring in his 90's from Wilson Blacktop Corp. where he enjoyed working daily with his sons for 30 plus years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leona E. (Frohnapfel) Wilson; sister, Virginia Rose; brother, Robert Wilson and grandson, Flynt Wilson.

Charles is survived by his five sons; Charles (Sandy), Mark (Janice), Dale (Carla), Kevin (Marcie) all of Colerain and Denis (Gretchen) of Wheeling, WV; nine grandchildren; Tiffany Henninger, Ty Wilson, Jamie Kovalski, Katie Christiansen, Carrie Beckett, Dale Wilson, Jr., Jared Wilson, Matt Wilson and Darek Wilson. 11 great grandchildren: Sunnie, Ian, Brodie, Audrey, Adrienne, Makenna, Madison, Scarlett, Charlie, Kole, Luke and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to say a special THANK YOU to Charlie's (Chaz's) girls especially Martha, "Piedmont Marsha". Also thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff at Eastern Ohio Regional Hospital 3rd floor and 1 South and the entire staff at Liza's Place.

 Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. 

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Colerain, OH on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Father Tim McGuire as the celebrant.

OLGA HESLOP, 91, of Martins Ferry, OH , passed away April 13th, 2018.

She was born in Yorkville, OH on January 24, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Tessi Anna (Gudza) Misko.

She was a retired employee at the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Yorkville Plant.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Heslop.

She is survived by two sons, Kurt V. Heslop, Martins Ferry and Gregory N. (Pamela) Heslop, Piedmont, OH; brother, William Misko, IA.

Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at 11 a.m., with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.

MARJORIE RUTH WACKER, "JORIE" 71, of Martins Ferry, OH passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018.

She was born in Martins Ferry, on September 8, 1946 she was the daughter of the late Merchant Clinton and Marjorie Ruth (Montgomery) Russell.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church Martins Ferry, OH.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dale Wacker, Sr.

She is survived by son, Robert Dale (Susan Church) Wacker, Jr., Yorkville, OH; sister, Nancy M. Russell, Martins Ferry, OH; sister-in-law, Leticia Schunn; several nieces and nephews.  

Friends will be received at the funeral home Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 6 until time of a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor Tina Siroki officiating.

Melvin Joseph Lovell, 84, of Martins Ferry, OH passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family Monday, April 16. 2018

He was born April 7, 1934 in Tiltonsville, OH, as son of Sylvia and Ernest Lovell.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, Helen Supinski and Ruth Lovell; three brothers, Ernest Lovell, Edward Lovell, and Harry Hill.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Irene (Buonamici) Lovell; his sister Elsie Mackey; two sons, Joe (Diane) Lovell of Martins Ferry, and Mark (Heather) Lovell of Mechanicsburg, PA; five treasured grandchildren, Kristina Lovell, Christopher Lovell, Gary Messer, Travis Lovell, and Trevor Lovell; one beloved great-grandchild, Pierre Lovell; a loving daughter-in-law, Tammy Graham; one loving Godson Mark Horvath; many nieces and nephews; many special, close friends; and one adored four-legged best friend, Domino.

Melvin graduated from Warren Consolidated High School, class of 1953. He worked for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel and retired after 38 years of service.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served on the church council, served as a deacon, and served on the Tuesday work crew.

He was a member of the Alert Engine Martins Ferry Fire Department and in his early years, a member of the Martins Ferry Emergency Squad. He was a member of the Martins Ferry Elks, the Bridgeport Eagles, and Mt. Pleasant Hunting Club. He also helped start the Rayland Fire Department.

He adored his family and loved to cheer on his grandchildren in any activity they participated in. He loved to hunt, fish, golf, bowl, and play cards with his buddies. He enjoyed rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates. He was an avid NASCAR fan; he especially loved Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He could be found on Friday nights rooting on the Purple Riders.

All who knew him will never forget his kindness, generosity, compassion, and his wonderful sense of humor. His wife, children, and grandchildren meant everything to him! He will be remembered with so much love and laughter that their lives and the lives of all they touch will be better for knowing him.

Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.

Nancy Lee Coyle, 71, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at her residence in Swansboro, NC, with her family by her side.

She was born November 13, 1946 in Martins Ferry, OH daughter of the late, Berton and Irene Minehart Nichols.

Funeral service was  held  Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Freedom Way Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Petty officiating. 

She is survived by husband, Charles “Chuck” Coyle of the home; daughters, Missy Coyle of Swansboro and Kristen Coyle of Swansboro; sons, Charles T. Coyle, Jr. (Sandra) of Wisconsin, Kevin Coyle of Indiana, PA, and Jason Coyle and wife Janelle of Indiana, PA; grandchildren, Zachery, Aaron, and Alex Coyle, Sherayah and Lailah Wilborn; sisters, Wanda Sells, Rose Mary Conway, and Jackie Hoffman.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Raab Cancer Clinic 3500 Arendell St. Morehead City NC 28557.

Interment was held in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH on Tuesday, April 24.

JOHN MARSHAL SCHELL, JR., 68, of St. Clairsville, OH, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, at home surrounded by his loved ones.

John was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. He worked as a turbine mechanic for AEP for 32 years. 

John will be best remembered as a family man and doting husband/father/"pap". He did not miss a wrestling match, basketball game, softball game or soccer match. 

He was preceded in death by his father, John M. Schell, Sr., his mother, Martha (Bowers) Schell and brother, Alfred Schell.

He is survived by his wife, Diana (Ritchey) Schell; son, Chad (Loan) Nelson of Taylors, SC; daughter, Somer Schell (Ty) Platt of Martins Ferry, OH and Dana Schell (Joe) Houseberg of Mount Vernon, OH; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Also surviving are two sisters, Shirley (Ron) Carmichael, Chester, WV and Sandy (Bill) Miller of Pennsylvania.

In lieu of a memorial service, there will be a celebration of life at the Schell house in St. Clairsville, OH on May 19, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m.

SCHWENDER, HAROLD E. "HALLY"Passed from this life into eternal life on Friday, March 23, 2018 at his home in Martins Ferry, Ohio, at the age of 75. He was born on January 19, 1943, the only son of the late Harold O. and Adabelle Davis Schwender
.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Monica Hornyak Schwender; sons, Mark (Cara) Schwender of Martins Ferry and Aaron Schwender of West Alexander, PA; grandson Mark Schwender of Martins Ferry; granddaughter Tiffany (Joey) Danehart of West Alexander; and great-grandsons Alex and Nolen; step-granddaughter Jessica Thapa; and children, Anthony and Delilah; sisters Cheryl (Kenn) Sickle of St. Clairsville, and Pam (Wolfgang) Marquardt of Austin, Texas; many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, an uncle, cousins, friends, and his beloved faithful dog, Buckeye.

Hally dearly loved his mother-in-law, Isabelle Hornyak of Bellaire; sister-in-law Dana (Roger) Campbell and daughters of Columbus, OH; brother-in-law Allan (Diane) Hornyak and children of Loveland, OH.

In addition to his parents, Hally was preceded in death by his sisters, Viola McGee and Susan Tittle.

Hally retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and was the president and patriarch of the Schwender family reunion. He had many interests and hobbies, including gardening, making wine and woodworking. He is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

KEVIN JOHN NICKLE, 59, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Wednesday, May 16th, 2018 at his residence. 

Kevin was born in Wheeling, WV on June 19, 1958, a son of the late Felix Joseph Nickle and Frieda (Wasle) Nickle who survives him.

He served in the U.S. Army.


 In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Tina Nickle.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Felix Nickle, Castle Rock, CO and Alvin Nickle, Martins Ferry, OH; two sisters, Marlene Nickle, Denver, CO and Mary (Eric) George, Granville, OH.

FREDERICK  P.  FRYMAN, 64, of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018.

Fred was born in Wheeling, WV on December 3, 1953, a son of the late Charles Harry and Rosemary Agnes (Delbrugge) Fryman.

He was the retired owner of the former Bridgeport Party Center, Bridgeport, OH.

He was a member of the Ohio River Valley Elk Lodge # 231 of Martins Ferry.

Fred is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann (Cunningham) Fryman; brother, Charles E. (Maribeth) Fryman, Langhorne, PA; two sisters, Carletta R. Curley and Donna J. (James) Andriot, both of Columbus, OH; daughter, Bridget (Scott) Louis, Martins Ferry; son, Charles F. Fryman, Bellaire, OH; step-daughter, Jenny Cunningham, Moundsville, WV. He is also survived by three step-grandchildren, and one step-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

JAMES ROBERT HOLLAND, JR., 63, of Martins Ferry, OH passed away Monday, May 21, 2018.

Jim was born in Martins Ferry, OH on June 8, 1954,the son of the late James Robert and Bertha E (Micker) Holland.

He was a retired Chemical Engineer at the Cardinal Plant, Brilliant, OH; Honorary member of the Martins Ferry Fire Dept., Vigilant Fire House and a member of the State of Ohio, Professional Engineers.

 In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Holland.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Louise (Jeffers) Holland; two daughters, Dawn Holland, Chicago, IL and Lesley (Edward) Folds, Westerville, OH; six grandchildren, Breydyn, Hannah, Khai, Eden, Gianna and Julie; two step- grandchildren, Tyler and Eddie.

Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday, May 25, 2018 from 2-4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Luncheon at the Vigilant Fire House on Pearl Street at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 26.

GLENN  E . DEVAUL,  JR., 65, of Colerain, OH, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 while in the company of family members. 

Glenn was born in Martins Ferry, OH on October 22, 1952, a son of the late Glenn Elwood and Arbutice Iona (Hughes) DeVaul.

He worked as a bus driver for the Martins Ferry School System Martins Ferry.

He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Colerain, OH.

 Glenn was a member of the Ohio River Valley Elks Lodge # 231; Past Exalted Rulers Association, both of Martins Ferry; Knights Of Columbus of Colerain.

Glenn was a avid hunter and fisherman, who enjoyed these outings with his son, Tommy.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by a brother, Louis (Butch) Susi; legged buddies, Josey and Jessie

He is survived by his wife, Maryellen (Holler) DeVaul; son, Thomas G.(fiancée,' Jennifer) DeVaul, Colerain, OH; three brothers, Rick, John and Chuck DeVaul; sister, Dianna Kolb; numerous nieces and nephews; legged buddy, Katie (buggers). 

Friends will be received at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018 with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating. 

Interment will follow at Weeks Cemetery, Bridgeport, OH.

 DONALD H. HOOD, "HOODY", 75, of Martins Ferry, OH , passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018.

Don was born in Lansing, MI on October 25, 1942, a son of the late Maskery and Freda I (Long) Hood.

He was a retired employee of Turf Care Supply of Martins Ferry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Richard; two brothers, James and Raymond and a grandson, Seth Hood.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Dennison) Hood; three sons, Todd (Monika) Hood, Wheeling, WV; Robert (Debbie) Hood, Bellaire, OH and Scott (Gina) Hood, Colerain, OH; two step daughters, Lori DelRiesgo, Columbus, OH and Nickole (Jamie) Schramm, Colerain, OH; brother, Jerry (Mary) Hood, Edgewater, FL. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Henry Lewis officiating.

JANE A. WILDMAN, 71, of Martins Ferry, OH passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at her home with her loving husband, Terry, by her side. They would of celebrated 52 years of marriage July 16, 2018.

She was born October 10, 1946 in Bellaire, OH, the daughter of the late Albert and Emma Jane (Long) Vasek.

Jane retired in 2009 from Softite Credit Union and began her banking career in 1977 at the former Fidelity Savings and Loan in Martins Ferry. She was a past member of the M.F.V.F.D. Auxiliary Club and the M. F. Child Study Club. She was a protestant by faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Albert (Abbie) Vasek.

Surviving are her husband, Terry of 51 years; daughter, Taralyn (Jerry) Manukin of Brookside; son, Terry of Grove City. She has six grandchildren, Morgan, Jerry (Megan), Mackenzie Manukin and Kennedy, Parker and Avery Wildman.

Jane's wishes were for everyone to remember all the good times that each of you shared with her and hold on to those memories forever.

Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday, June 29, 2018 from 5 until time of a memorial service at 6 p.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.

CHARLES  R.   PROBST,  SR. “CHARLIE”, 81, of Martins Ferry, OH passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 25,2018, he and Shirley’s 63rd wedding anniversary.

Charlie was born on October 15, 1936 in Wheeling, WV, the second son of the late Lawrence and Laura Edna “Hamilton” Probst.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his brother, Mack “Bern” Probst.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley “Milbert” Probst; four children: Linda (Jerry) Pockl, Chuck (Karen) Probst, Cindy (Tom Henceroth) Probst and Tom (Mary Jo) Probst. All reside in Martins Ferry, Colerain area. Seven grandchildren: Alyssa Cotsamire, Jake and Connor Probst, Ashley (Jordan) Howard, Jessie Probst, Kyle and Kelsey Pockl; four great grandchildren; brother, Jim (Josie) Probst of Colerain.

Charlie was a 1954 graduate of Martins Ferry High School. He was a sports standout in baseball and football. He was inducted into the Martins Ferry Hall of Fame in 2017. He was a fan of Martins Ferry Purple Riders, Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Charlie enjoyed playing softball in his younger years and golfing and bowling until a few years ago.

He retired in 1999 from UPS after 30 years of service. He and Shirley had a fun filled relaxing retirement. They enjoyed vacationing at Myrtle Beach, Geneva on the Lake and Tennessee with family and long time friends.

Charlie was the most loving, kind, generous husband, father and grandfather a family could be blessed with. He never ask for anything for himself and was grateful for others kindnesses.

He was a faithful servant of our Lord as a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Martins Ferry having served as a past deacon and usher.

Friends will be received at the funeral home Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home Friday, June 29, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.

JERRY WALTER PIKO, 68, of Martins Ferry, OH , passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at his residence. 

Jerry was born in Martins Ferry, OH on October 12, 1949, a son of the late Walter and Emma (Oddis) Piko.

He was a retired truck driver for Mister Mover of Columbus, OH. He spent his life giving his all for his children and grandchildren. His two greatest loves where family and football. 

He is survived by his two daughters, Cassie (Gary) Duguay, Jackson OH and Janet Jones,Parkersburg WV; three sons, Mike (Lori) Piko, Martins Ferry, Aaron Weaver, Zanesville, OH and Chris Weaver, Columbus OH; brother, Jan (Sharon) Piko,Cleveland, OH; two sisters, Laura Hood,  and Judy Kovach, both of Columbus, OH; five granddaughters,Jeyra (Tyler) Hickman, Jackson OH;Jema Duguay, Jackson OH; Mckaylynn Weaver Groveport OH; Ayron Crie Robson and Kylie Piko; six grandsons Michael Piko, Ashville OH; Kyle Piko, Ashville OH; Dillon Piko-Duguay, Jackson OH; Dalton Piko-Duguay, Jackson OH; AJ Weaver, Columbus OH; Zack Weaver, Columbus OH, and one Great great grandson Jace Hickman, Jackson OH.

He was an extraordinary man that left his mark on this world and will forever be in the hearts of his family and friends.

Jane Richards McFarland, 87, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Monday, July 16, 2018.
Jane was the daughter of the late Richard and Sylvia Hammett Richards and was married to James J. McFarland from 1965 until his death in 1992.

Jane began working as a teletypist at The Times Leader in Martins Ferry while a senior at Martins Ferry High School. She later worked in the composing room of The Intelligencer in Wheeling for more than 30 years, for a combined 49 years at the two papers.

After retirement, she became a member of First Presbyterian Church in Martins Ferry, where she enjoyed playing euchre and volunteering at the annual rummage sale and funeral luncheons.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Jo Ann Christoffers and brother-in-law Ferman Christoffers.
She is survived by her sons J.R. McFarland of Martins Ferry and David A. McFarland and his wife Betsy Bethel-McFarland of Martins Ferry; grandson Christian David McFarland and his wife Amanda of Reynoldsburg, OH; granddaughter Emma Skye McFarland of Martins Ferry; "granddaughters" Madison and Rylee Reis and Ella Hall; beloved cousins Jane Ann Hammett, Penny Moore, Mike Hammett, Becky Arnott, Tammy Smith, Judy Beyda, Dianna Brick, Lee Ann Brick and Dean Brick, and their spouses and children; and her four-legged "babies" Isabelle and Lucy.

Jane was a generous soul who gave everything she had and then gave some more. She loved chocolate, sauerkraut and turkey stuffing (hold the turkey); the color purple; "Gone With the Wind": reading crime novels; assembling jigsaw puzzles; watching TV and working the Sunday crossword -- in pen.

Friends will be received at the funeral home  Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, July 19, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

Raymond was a former Past Master of the Smithfield Masonic Lodge #182 and is now the Worshipful Master of the Ohio City Lodge #486 of Martins Ferry.

He was a retired employee of the former Longenette Construction and Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Mingo Plant.

Wink was on the Martins Ferry Purple Riders football team and played in two undefeated seasons 60 and 61. He was one of the famous "5 Tons Of Fun", which included Ted Torok, Frank Stauffer, Joe Minder, and Tiny Ward + 1 was Charles Coss, QB.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Robert, Howard and Paul; two sisters, Clara Horner and Lulu Rippentrop.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Lou (Weekly) Longenette; son, William (Lori) Longenette, II, Columbus, OH; daughter, Susan Longenette, Martins Ferry; granddaughter, Taylor E. Longenette, Columbus, OH; grandson, Anthony J. Longenette, Galloway, OH; sister, Freda Olszeski.

JESSIE LOU WORTHINGTON, 79, of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away Tuesday, August 28th, 2018.

She was born in Martins Ferry, on August 15, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Charles Herman and Helen (Saunders) Armstrong.

She was employed at Attorney William L.Thomas Law Office for 18 Years. Retired from Ameritec/Ohio Bell Telephone Co after 31 years; realtor with the former Colman Realty; member of the 1st Presbyterian Church; 50 year member of the Chancel Choir; member of the Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority, Gamma Chapter. all of Martins Ferry. Jessie graduated from M. F. H. S. in 1957. 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her life long friends, Dottie Ann, Mary Louise and Jeanann.

She is survived by two daughters, Beth Lynne (Scott) Davidson and Jane Lynne (Joseph) Klug, both of Martins Ferry; four grandsons, Anthony Vespa, Martins Ferry, Jacob Klug, Martins Ferry, Daniel (Sarah) Klug, St. Clairsville and Zackary Davison, Martins Ferry; granddaughter, Jessica Katelyn Davison, Martins Ferry; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Ging and Brielle Klug.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Patrick Walling.

She is survived by daughter, Mary Beth Walling, North Huntingdon, PA; daughter, Rebecca M. (Joseph) Caldwell, Jupiter, FL; son, Patrick J. (Connie) Walling, Cincinnati, OH; daughter, Michele M. (William) Sutton, Martins Ferry, OH. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Catherine E. Meeker, 94, of Lancaster, PA and formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away at the UPMC Pinnacle Hospital in Lancaster on Friday, September 28, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in Martins Ferry to the late George and Edith (Willimott) Haag. Her husband of 38 years, David W. Meeker, died in 1989.

She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Wheeling, WV and West Liberty University, Wheeling, WV. Catherine received her teacher's certification and taught 2nd grade at the Elm School in Martins Ferry.

She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a passionate Pittsburgh Penguins fan. She also loved the Steelers and enjoyed reading, completing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and travelling.

Surviving Catherine are her daughter, Connie E. Meeker of Lancaster, with whom she lived and her son Doug W. Meeker, husband of Sue (Young) of Charlotte Hall, MD; two grandchildren, Jennifer, wife of Andrew Anderson of Tempe, AZ and David Meeker of McLean, VA; and her sister Lois Moellendick. In addition to her husband David, Catherine was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Klotz and Eileen Snyder.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph Cathedral in Wheeling, WV on November 9, 2018 at 9:00 am., with the Rev. Msgr. Kevin Michael Quirk as the Celebrant Interment followed in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry. William (Bill) Tolbert of Martins Ferry, Ohio, a businessman with a keen social conscience, died Saturday, November 17, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born May 16, 1924, in Yorkville, Ohio, the son of Anthony James Jr. and Salome (Morgan) Tolbert.

 Upon graduation from Yorkville High School in 1942, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and became a decorated marine while serving in the Pacific theater during World War II. During his service he was promoted to the rank of sergeant. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, Bill returned to the Ohio Valley and launched his business career opening a corner grocery store and butcher shop on Penn Street in Martins Ferry. Bill and his wife, Angela, expanded this operation and opened two more stores including a Bridgeport location and one on Walnut Street in Martins Ferry. The Walnut Street location served as a focal point for the neighborhood for 32 years. Beginning in 1955, the couple further developed their commercial business over the next several decades opening DeLuxe Toy and Hobby, The Young World (a childrenás apparel specialty store), The Fashion Manor (an exclusive womenás clothing boutique), Steckerás Department Store and Ferry Realty. Today, Bill and Angelaás footprint can be seen as their children and grandchildren have several businesses throughout Martins Ferry. 

Through all his endeavors, Bill spent a lifetime serving charities, his community and his church, St. Maryás Catholic Church in Martins Ferry. He was named the Martins Ferry Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year. In 2010, he and Angela were inducted into the Martins Ferry Hall of Honor, and one of his proudest moments was the dedication of the gymnasium at Martins Ferry High School as the William and Angela Tolbert Gymnasium. Additionally, he was recognized by the Ohio General Assembly for his deep commitment to the Ohio Valley.

Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife, Angela (Amici) and his sister, Mary Elizabeth Voytecek. He is survived by his brother Anthony James III (Jim).

Also surviving are his four daughters Pamela Stecker (Paul), Susan Tolbert-Dunbar (Joseph), Victoria Capuano and Constance Yeso (Michael), and son William Jr. (Lisa), 12 grandchildren, Paul Stecker Jr. (Cheryl), Jennifer Gerchow (Kurt), Mark Stecker (Jennifer), Nicole Stephens (Daniel), Amanda Capuano, Susan Yeso, Melissa Yeso, Mary Yeso, Kathleen Kendall (Matthew), William Tolbert III, Angela Aquino (David), and Carolyn Tolbert, and 10 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held November 19, 2018, at Keller Funeral Home, 615 Hanover St., Martins Ferry, from 1:30-7:30 p.m.

 Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 20 N. Fourth St., Martins Ferry, with Rev. Thomas Marut  as the Celebrant. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Central School, 24 N. Fourth St., Martins Ferry, OH 43935.

Due to the memorial and funeral services, DeLuxe Toy and Hobby, will have altered hours on Monday, November 19, of 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesday, November 20, of 3-6:30 p.m. Also, Valley Wide Insurance hours will have altered hours on Monday, November 19, of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesday, November 20, of 3-5 p.m. 

The Belmont Co. Veterans Association will give Military Honors at St. Mary's Cemetery at 11:15 a.m.

TERRY LEE SALEM,  "EY" KELLY 67, of  Wheeling, WV , passed away Friday, November 23, 2018.

He was born in Martins Ferry, OH on November 19, 1951, a son of the late Joseph Robert and Virginia Lee (Dorsey) Salem.

He was a retired greyhound dog trainer; former employee of Nickles Bakery and Terry worked for his brother Tom for 14 years at the Parlor Cafe in Wheeling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bernard, Jimmy Joe and Buddy Salem; one sister, Karen Salem; nephew, Rod Monroe.

He is survived by daughter, Rebecca Virginia Charmegne Goldberg, Moundsville, WV; sister, Jewell Monroe, Bridgeport, OH; sister, Lou Vlasach; sister, Betsy Salem; sister, Sarah Armstrong; brother, Tom Salem; brother, Roger Salem; granddaughter, Olivia Melchiori; companion, Esther Goldberg.

Friends are invited to a memorial service with a celebration of life immediately following on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Elm Grove Civic Association, 21 Sycamore Ave., Wheeling, WV

ELEANOR  ANN  MOORE, 80, died November 20 in Nashville. She was a resident of Park Manor Independent and Assisted Living Community. Born November 10, 1938, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, to Arnold (Skeets) Moore and Ruth Wilson Moore, she was preceded in death by both parents.

She graduated from Smithfield High School, Smithfield, Ohio, in 1956 and received a Bachelor’s degree from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Steubenville, Ohio, in 1960. She then came to Nashville to work at the Methodist Publishing House in the Department of Youth Publications, Division of Curriculum Resources, taking a leave in 1964 to earn a Master’s Degree in biblical studies from Scarritt College for Christian Workers. She returned to the publishing house in 1966 to work as an editor in the Department of Adult Publications, again taking a leave in 1984 to earn a Master’s degree in Christian education from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio (Methesco) in Delaware, Ohio. She was consecrated as a Diaconal Minister of The United Methodist Church in 1984. Upon her return to Nashville from Methesco, she capped a 43-year career at the now United Methodist Publishing House as editor of Adult Bible Studies. In this capacity she was for many years a member of the Committee on Uniform Series of the National Council of Churches of Christ USA, a body commissioned to design Christian literature used by a variety of Protestant denominations all over the world.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 30, 2018 6:00 p.m. at Blakemore United Methodist Church, 3601 West End Ave., Nashville, TN. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday 1 hour prior to the service from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Blakemore United Methodist Church.

Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Martins Ferry, Ohio.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to Keller Funeral Home.
